I’ve often heard spectators say “how do they do that” when watching Olympic curlers make run back triples, but I’ve also heard an equal number of coments with the variation “I want to do that” come out of the mouths of bantam hopefuls. The way to get from one to the other is an elusive blend of talent and hard work which in turn usually boils down to the nuts and bolts of hours and hours of practice. Booking themselves for a double practice with two hours on the ice in addition to a sports psychologist session off the ice as well is just one example of how hard working Team Clendenan is and how determined they are to learn and grow. It’s fascinating to see development in a group so young and in a game that is so hard and it’s not impossible to imagine that the girls will figure out a way to either out-think or out-perform their opponents as the weeks unfold solely because they are willing to put in the time. If every journey begins with one step, then the footprints the girls are making will be a string of memories that will eventually build a story worth telling, regardless of the destination or the outcome.

Keep stepping ladies . . . you’re bound to be admired for making the leap from spectator to participator and for pushing yourselves outside of your comfort zone.
